Can I trade during news events?

Learn the news trading restrictions that apply to your Evaluation Program.

Written by Lior

Short Answer

News trading rules depend on your Evaluation Program. On programs with the news trading restriction, you may not open, close, or modify a position within 2 minutes before or 2 minutes after a scheduled high-impact news event. Selected programs allow unrestricted news trading, your program guide states which rule applies to your account.

If you opened a position before the restricted window begins, you may continue holding it through the news event.

News Trading Restrictions

The restriction only applies during the 2-minute window before and after a scheduled high-impact news event.

Outside of this window, trading is permitted as long as you comply with all other applicable Trading Rules.

Important

  • The restriction applies only to scheduled high-impact news events.

  • Existing positions may remain open during the restricted window.

  • Selected Evaluation Programs are not subject to this restriction — check your program guide.
